From Architecture to Fashion
IF draws inspiration in the raw beauty of brutalist architecture and in the curve of art nouveau. The first collection was designed after a road-trip in the Balkans, during which the designer discovered the spomeniks, a series of postwar memorial monuments.
Iris Favand also pays tribute to the fashion of the 60s and to the engravings of Hans Hartung. Hence, the garments are recognizable through their geometrical leather cuts and their intricate laser machine engravings.

A Feminist Brand
Iris Favand – also involved in an association fighting sexual violence – aims for her brand to raise awarness on gender equality. A QR code tag is to be found in every garment, revealing an anecdote or a milestone of the feminist history. On the Maiwelle dress for instance, a QR code and the mention “What IF the clitoris was not a failure” is linked to the story of the clitoris scientific study, that wasn’t done before 1998.

About the Designer
Iris Favand grew up in Paris, where she studied art history and literature. She then moved to New York to study fashion design at Parsons. After assisting other designers for a couple of years, she decided to create her own brand, in which she expresses her love for architecture and her convictions for gender equality.
